tywi farm nutrient partnership

The Tywi Farm Nutrient Partnership (TFNP) prides itself in the fact that it strives to improve agriculture by creating environmental innovations. It is based at Gelli Aur farm which has superb facilities that can support agricultural and environmental projects.

The TFNP is born out of the success of Prosiectslyri Project. It makes full use of the research facilities that Coleg Sir Gâr have developed at the Agriculture Research Centre.

TFNP has brought together a mix of international and Wales-based players in the field of nutrient management, all with common goals. As commercial companies, their first aim is to increase market opportunities. This can be achieved by optimising the suitability of their processes and systems through further research and development. At the same time, they wish to maximise the efficiency and scope of their modular processes by aligning with other TFNP partner processes to offer a complete nutrient management package.

Support from the Welsh government through the water and flood division has enabled us at the Tywi Farm Nutrient Partnership to implement the research and development outcomes so far. Funding has allowed us to develop constructed wetlands, plant outcome-led adaptions and precision farming equipment. This is to maximise the potential recirculation of on-farm nutrients.

This project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund SMART expertise 2014-2020 West Wales and the Valleys programme.
